China, December 10, 2007 — STMicrolectronics today announced that the company has successfully manufactured the first use of 45nm CMOS radio frequency (RF) manufacturing technology chip.
This advanced technology for next generation wireless LAN (WLAN) products is essential. These system-on-chip (SoC) is in the ST Crolles 300mm wafer production line in France, prototype product integrates from primary RF signal detection to the next signal processing needs of digital data output of the full functionality of the chain.
These prototype chip has the most advanced performance and the highest density (low-noise amplifiers, mixers, analog to digital converters and filters are working in the entire circuit 1.1V only consume 0.45mm2).ST semiconductor success to develop CMOS RF-derived technology research and development strategy, and technology is the core business in standard CMOS technology platform based on homegrown applications for specific added value of improved technology brings.
ST's analog/RF-derived technology allows resistance, capacitance and inductance, passive components and high-performance, high-density integrated digital logical unit of functionality.
