STMicrolectronics (NYSE: STM) has launched a more powerful motor control system-on-chip.
New products for security cameras, automated teller machine, automatic ticket machines, stage lighting, printers, and vending machines and other applications development, device manufacturers to lower cost, faster response and high performance motor drive. The ' SPIN ' digital (dSPINTM) adopts STMicrolectronics unique BCD process, integration step motor controlled the digital control, simulation, measurement, power conversion and other circuits.
This is STMicrolectronics dSPIN product family's first single-chip motor control IC that helps designers avoid dedicated hardware design work, reduce the number of components and printed circuit board space and speeds up time to market. The new product uses a hardware implementation of motor control, the control of the motor just microcontrollers provide acceleration, deceleration, speed and destination location directive, thus simplifying the software design, further release microcontroller resources to support more differentiated features.Compared with competing products, in addition to the single-chip integration more functionality, dSPIN also innovative voltage mode control algorithms, to ensure that the motor is extremely smooth and stable operation.
Voltage mode can achieve full digital motor control, motor phase-infeed accurate sine waveform, every step of the 128 micro-step resolution. In addition, the new product can reduce the resonance, mechanical noise and low vibration, low-speed mode also can reduce the speed and torque fluctuations.STMicrolectronics sector Vice President and industry and power conversion products division General Manager Pietro Menniti said: "the built-in digital control kernel dSPIN further expands STMicrolectronics PowerSPINTM product platform, providing customers with excellent system-level performance and product value.
Now the motor control applications in resolution, stability and the stability of the system functioning as the extremely stringent requirements. High-step resolution, digital motor control, a full set of features as well as directly connected motor phase of dual h-bridge power switch array let dSPIN in one or more than one application with 100W motor greater competitive advantage. ”STMicrolectronics give full play to the strengths of analog devices, taking advantage of its advanced BCD process in monolithic integrated overheat protection, low bus voltage protection, non-power overcurrent protection and motor-step detection, and other rich features and requirements for today's most stringent application simplifies the design of the overall protection solutions.
Main characteristics: dSPIN
• Extended STMicrolectronics of PowerSPIN motor control solutions series • double low on-resistance RDS (ON) (0.28 Ω) DMOS full bridge • standard SPI control interface • maximum output current 7A (3 Arms) • 8V to 45V working voltage • you can set the speed control curves and rotor position • no power type current control • low quiescent current, low standby current
Currently dSPIN (product type L6470) have now been put into production, using thermal hardening type HTSSOP28 package (L6470H).
In addition, STMicrolectronics also will be launched with the first half of 2011 PowerSO36 packaging products.
