Silicon Image today announced that its 225 MHz HDMI ™ 1.3 physical layer (PHY) solution, the solution includes SiI9204 HDMI v1.3 transmitter physical layer semiconductor and supporting HDMI v1.3 link layer of intellectual property (IP) cores for use in consumer electronic products and high-end mobile devices.
This product complements the Silicon Image's HDMI v1.3 transmitter series, the series transmitter including independent discrete semiconductor semiconductor, physical layer, and link-layer IP core and full HDMI v1.3 link and physical layer IP core.Today, the integrated circuit (IC) suppliers can choose to use an external discrete HDMI chip or completely to HDMI capabilities into their consumer electronic integrated circuits.
Silicon Image company now provides an HDMI v1.3 transmitter solution, it has two advantages: compared with discrete IC implementation, lowering the cost of materials (BOM); and a fully integrated system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, faster on the market. In addition, Silicon Image's HDMI v1.3 transmitter technology is a means of Silicon validation (silicon-proven), high-capacity solution since 2007 has more than 10 000 HDMI v1.3 transmitter chip sold.Silicon Image, Inc. Business Development Director Ron Richter said: "HDMI 1.3 has become the standard for digital television, now widely used in high-definition digital set-top boxes and Blu-ray disc (Blu-ray Disc ™) Player.
Silicon Image's physical layer IC and link-layer IP solutions offer HDMI v1.3 standard high-quality video and audio functionality without and SoC analog integrated design challenges related to the project. ”Silicon Image's SiI9204 emitter physical layer main features include:
• HDMI v1.3 225 MHz support dark (Deep Color) • SiI9002 compatibility mode (for those people today use SiI9002) • in high resolution and high frame rate of low power consumption (in 1080p/60 frames per second, 12 bits/pixel is less than 90mW) • low power-down current (less than 10 µ A) integrate CEC hardware support • display data channel (DDC) support • use full-featured SoC can support high bit rate audio and x.v.color • 6X6mm 40 pin QFN package • link layer IP core license and SiI9204 chip with competitive pricing
SiI9204 chip with built-in consumer electronics control (CEC), such as digital set-top boxes, personal video recorder, Blu-ray disc players, game consoles, high-definition (HD) video cameras and high-end mobile devices and other consumer applications.
Link-layer IP core is designed to integrate into SoC, you can quickly apply to any industry or technology generation, and fully integrated, mixed-signal solutions, it provides a critical time to market advantage.SiI9204 emitter physical layer is planned for the first quarter of 2009, supporting the link-layer IP will be the fourth quarter of 2008 launch for integration.
